In vivo Fluorescence imaging in life mice and rats has created significant advantages to non-invasively evaluate biological events or drug efficacy. Labeling of tumor cells, stem cells, infectious disease agents, immune cells such as T-lymphocytes, neutrophils and macrophages with red fluorescent proteins or cell stains allows tracking of cell populations. Small molecules, peptides, antibodies and siRNA can be tagged with fluorophores to see biodistribution. Vascular perfusion can be visualized with fluorescent probes. Biomarkers can be detected with targeted fluorescent probes. Enzymatic events are imaged with activatable probes.
